# Rubicourt for developers

> Resolve disputes between your users in minutes, and send the hard ones to binding arbitration.

Rubicourt gives a marketplace two ways to settle disputes between its users. Both run through one API key.

> [card] [Resolve](https://docs.rubicourt.com/resolve/overview.md)
>
> **Your platform's own dispute decisions.** AI applies your written policy to both sides' evidence and explains its reasons. Your staff review the cases your policy routes to them. Minutes per dispute.

> [card] [Arbitration](https://docs.rubicourt.com/arbitration/overview.md)
>
> **Binding small-claims arbitration.** A licensed attorney arbitrator decides and signs an award a court can enforce. One appeal to a different arbitrator. About five weeks.

## How they fit together

| | Resolve | Arbitration |
| - | - | - |
| Who decides | AI under your policy; your reviewers above your limit | A licensed attorney arbitrator |
| Legal effect | Binding inside your platform: refund, payout, escrow | An award a court can confirm and enforce |
| Speed | Minutes, after the evidence window | About five weeks |
| Cost to an individual | Nothing | At most \$50 |

Most disputes end in Resolve. If your terms include Rubicourt arbitration, a buyer or seller who disagrees with a Resolve decision can ask for arbitration. If the other side agrees, the case opens with the dispute's evidence already attached.

> [!NOTE]
>
> A Resolve decision is your platform's customer-service decision. It is never called an award or arbitration. Only an arbitration case produces an award.
