- Who decides: a licensed attorney with 10+ years of practice, or a retired judge. They are drawn at random and paid the same flat fee whatever the outcome.
- How: online, on documents. Any individual who asks for a hearing gets one, by video or phone.
- AI: used only if both sides agree, and only to summarize filings and draft reasons after the arbitrator has decided. Appeals use no AI.
- Timing: answer within 14 days, reply within 7 days, a 3-day summary check, then the award within 10 business days. About five weeks in all.
- Appeal: once, to a different, senior arbitrator, within 14 days.
- Fees: flat, $100 to $450 per case by amount. An individual pays at most $50.
